MAKE CERTAIN THAT YOU REGISTER FOR THE CORRECT SESSION

  • Some months, the New Instructor Seminar (NIS) is delivered IN PERSON in the training room at the North Carolina Real Estate Commission, 1313 Navaho Drive, Raleigh, NC. Other months it is delivered via synchronous distance learning (ZOOM). Pay attention to the course date for which you are registering and whether it is an IN PERSON session or a session offered via ZOOM.
  • All fees paid at the time of registration are NON-Refundable.
  • Due to the demand for the New Instructor Seminar, no rescheduling is currently permitted. If you are unable to attend your scheduled course or decide to switch from an IN PERSON session to a ZOOM session, please contact the Education and Licensing Division to inform us of the cancellation. In such case, your registration fee will be forfeited. You may register for a future course on our website when seats become available, but a new registration fee will be required.

Instructor Qualification Requirements
To be approved as an instructor, Commission Rule 58H .0302(b) dictates that an instructor applicant must meet the following qualification requirements:
  1. An instructor applicant shall demonstrate that he or she possesses good reputation and character pursuant to G.S. 93A-34(c)(9) and has:
  1. a North Carolina real estate broker license that is not on provisional status;
  2. completed continuing education sufficient to activate a license under 21 NCAC 58A .1702;
  3. completed 60 semester hours of college-level education at an institution accredited by any college accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education;
  4. completed the New Instructor Seminar within the previous six months; and
  5. within the previous seven years has either:
  1. two years full-time experience in real estate brokerage with at least one year in North Carolina;
  2. three years of instructor experience at a secondary or post-secondary level;
  3. real estate Prelicensing or Postlicensing instructor approval in another jurisdiction; or
  4. qualifications found to be equivalent by the Commission, including a current North Carolina law license and three years' full time experience in commercial or residential real estate transactions or representation of real estate brokers or firms.
