COMPARISON OF NORTH CAROLINA REAL ESTATE COMMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSURE TO REPORTED EQUIVALENT MILITARY TRAINING
NCREC LICENSING REQUIREMENT MILITARY TRAINING EQUIVALENT
Satisfy one of the following educational criteria:
  • Complete the 75-hour North Carolina Broker Prelicensing Course
  • Complete equivalent salesperson prelicensing education in another state. [NOTE: This option is only available if the prelicensing education consisted of at least 75 hours of instruction, was completed within one (1) year prior to North Carolina license application and while the applicant was a resident of the other state; and is parallel to the topics and timings described in the Commission’s Prelicensing course syllabus
  • Hold a current real estate Salesperson or Broker license in another jurisdiction that has been on active status within the three year period prior to NC license application
  • U.S. Air Force – No Equivalent
  • U.S. Army – No Known Equivalent
  • U.S. Navy – No Known Equivalent
  • U.S. Marine Corps – No Known Equivalent
  • U.S. Coast Guard – No Known Equivalent
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – No Known Equivalent
  • U.S. National Guard – No Known Equivalent
Pass the real estate license examination
  • U.S. Air Force – No Equivalent
  • U.S. Army – No Known Equivalent
  • U.S. Navy – No Known Equivalent
  • U.S. Marine Corps – No Known Equivalent
  • U.S. Coast Guard – No Known Equivalent
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – No Known Equivalent
  • U.S. National Guard – No Known Equivalent

All applicants must also:

  1. Be at least 18 years of age;
  2. Be a U.S. Citizen, a non-citizen national or a qualified alien under federal law, or have a lawful presence in the U.S. and be authorized to work in the U.S. in the real estate brokerage field;
  3. Have a Social Security Number;
  4. File a complete application and $100.00 fee; and
  5. Satisfy the Commission that they possess the requisite competency, honesty, truthfulness, integrity, good moral character, and general fitness, including mental and emotional fitness, necessary to protect the public interest and promote public confidence in the real estate brokerage business.
