Reciprocity with New Jersey to be rescinded

The reciprocal licensing arrangement between North Carolina and New Jersey will be rescinded effective July 1, 1994. Under the current arrangement, which has been in effect since 1981, resident North Carolina licensees may qualify for nonresident New Jersey licenses with out being required to pass that state's real estate examination. North Carolina grants the same privilege to New Jersey licensees. nj.gif (1662 bytes)

However, according to correspondence received by Executive Director Phillip T. Fisher, New Jersey has passed recent legislation whereby that state "will no longer offer reciprocal real estate licensing privileges to licensees from any other states."

Mr. Fisher was further advised that although waivers of some qualifications and/or a portion of the exam are possible, final decisions regarding requirements for licensure have not been made.
