Bulletin 2007 V38-2
PBT’s Required to Complete 30 Hours of
CE by April 6, 2008
If your license status is “PBT”, (you were licensed as a
real estate salesperson before October 1, 2005, and your license was converted
to a broker license on provisional status April 1, 2006), you have until April
1, 2008 to either complete the Broker Transition
course or certify
that you have a certain amount of real estate experience.
On April 1, 2008, your license will
be placed on inactive status (if not already on inactive status) unless you have
completed the 24-hour Broker Transition course or completed and
submitted the Provisional Broker Certificate of Experience.
In addition, you will be required to complete the three
30-hour postlicensing courses and any required
continuing education in order to reactivate it.
The BTC has no exam at the end and counts as your
continuing education elective course for this year. For course dates and
locations, go to the Commission web site, www.ncrec.state.nc.us,
click “Continuing Education”, click “CE Course
Schedule” and scroll down to “24 Hour Broker Transition Courses”.
Since course availability could be a
problem as the April 1, 2008, deadline approaches, we advise you to enroll in
the BTC as soon as possible.
You are not required to take the BTC
if, during the past six years, you have engaged in activities which required a
real estate license on a full-time (or equivalent part-time) basis for at least
four years. Activities which require a real estate license include
listing, selling, buying, leasing or renting real estate for others for a fee.
“Full-time” means at least 40 hours per week or 2000 hours per year.
You can certify this experience at the Commission’s
website. On the Home page, click on “To submit Provisional Broker Certificate
of Experience”, log in by entering your license and PIN numbers and click on
“Certification of Experience”.
